Upon appointment by the Board of Commissioners, members of the Board of Tax Assessors must be sworn in by the Clerk of Superior Court for six-year terms which are staggered. The Board of Commissioners may reappoint the member whose term has expired or appoint a new member. The Chief Appraiser is responsible for notifying the Board of Commissioners of the expiration of terms of members.
